What is the Grantmaking Basics Mentor Program?
The Mentor Program connects experienced grantmakers with those just beginning their career. The Mentor Program is available to Council members only and is offered through the Council on Foundations and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.
Grantmakers are matched based on similar interests and values in areas such as foundation focus, grant program areas, type of foundation, position and interests.
Mentors act as coaches to help Protégés (mentees) understand the core skills needed to succeed as grantmakers. The duo will work together to achieve the learning objectives of Grantmaking Basics Online. You'll

How can an experience grantmaker register as a mentor?
Contact the Executive Education staff by email or call 202/467-0423 to sign-up as a mentor. Once registered, you will receive free access to the online course and resources to guide you through the mentor relationship. Mentors will be asked to complete a mentor profile to help the Council identify the right protégé match.
The Grantmaking Basics Mentor Program is a win-win situation for both grantmakers!
What do I need to do?
In general, be committed, be responsible, be open to communicating, respect confidentiality and have mutual respect for one another.
