Welcome to the Mentor Program module of the Grantmaking Basics Online course.
The Mentor Program connects experienced grantmakers with those just beginning their grantmaking careers. Mentors act as coaches to help Protégés understand the core skills of Grantmaking Basics: A Field Guide for Funders, and is the core component of the Grantmaking Basics Online course.
Mentors meet with their Protégés once or twice each month by telephone to guide them through the completion of the readings and interactive activities presented in the first seven chapters of the program. Protégés receive a certificate of completion from the Council on Foundations upon completion of the online course.
Protégés learn to apply the skills and ideas presented to their own foundations. Mentors establish relationships, share a broader perspective of philanthropy and help newcomers achieve the goals of the online study program a win-win situation for all participants.
The Mentor Program is available only to Council members.
